VIVA: ABNKKBSNPLAko?! Movie Adaptation
Sunday, January 05, 2014VIVA Films and MVP Entertainment adapts one of Bob Ong's legendary books entitled, 'ABNKKBSNPLAko?!' (read as 'ABA NAKAKABASA NA PALA AKO?!') which will be released this February 19, 2014.
I've had my doubts on this, as basing their adaptation in their official trailer, looks like they'll be focusing the movie on the love story of Roberto, just like all traditional Filipino movies are. Nakakasira ng reputasyon nung libro lalo na sa mga avid fans ni Bob Ong. I, for one, is a fan of Bob Ong's books. It's humor and life lessons in one. But the appeal of their trailer seems like more on the dramatic side of the piece. Even those scenes that are meant to get you off your seats and lay on the floor and do the ROFL(Rolling On the Floor, Laughing).
Here's some of the stills from the trailer:
Still, it looks like a good movie to watch out for this 2014. It's not like every year you get to watch a renowned Filipino piece made into a movie. But I would still like to see more of the Bob Ong's classic side rather than a petty love story adaptation. Besides, this isn't Bob Ong's love story, it's Bob Ong's life story book. The good with the bad. The humor with the drama. The ups and downs of his life. Marami kang makukuhang life lessons sa libro na 'to and so with his other books.
This part of the trailer though, which was the sequence where the whole room is smelling and his classmates went teasing him after, didn't make much of an impact to me.

With this cast, it looks like an epic movie. I'm just sharing my insights regarding the movie here. I'm not discouraging anyone, actually, I'll be seeing this movie and you should too. Let's see how VIVA opens their new league of Filipino piece adaptations.
To sum up, VIVA will also be adapting two other renowned books, both by Filipino authors, "Diary ng Panget the MOVIE!" and "Lumayo ka nga sa Akin".

I'll just leave it here. Comments, suggestions, violent reactions, just comment below.

Interesting flick as it seems, though I hope that it will focus on much insightful side of the author's than the romantic side of the character's lives.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see local authors book becoming good movies and this one has a nice cast and story.
